Voter registration deadline set for September 5 (BVI News Online)

Further, section 17(1) of the Elections (Amendment) Act No. 14 of 2011 states that: “A registered voter who is ordinarily resident in the territory and who moves his place of residence from within one local electoral district or polling division to another, may have his name transferred to the list of voters for the local electoral district or polling division to which he has moved, if he applies … and establishes, to the satisfaction of the Supervisor of Elections, proof of residence within the local electoral district or polling division to which he/she has moved.” Residents who have moved their place of residence and wish to transfer are encouraged to apply for a transfer. The Supervisor of Elections, Scherrie Griffin said a person must be a Belonger as per section 2 of the Virgin Islands Constitution, 18 years of age or older, and domiciled and resident in the Virgin Islands, or domiciled in the Virgin Islands and resident in the United States Virgin Islands to be qualified to register.

Since the bill became a law in 2016, hundreds of thousands of Ohioans have registered to vote or updated their registration online. According to LaRose’s office, the campaign will use special branding with a website that will allow for online voter registration. The 2020 campaign enlisted the support of more than 50 breweries and today, that number has grown to 100.

“A DECLARATION that the Defendant is expected pursuant to the provisions of Sections 76(2), 77(2), 116(2), 117(2), 132(2) & (5) and 178 (2) & (5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended) as well as Sections 9(1), 9 (6), 10(1) and 12(1) of the Electoral Acts, 2022, to continue voters Registration, update and Revision of voters register till 90 days before the General Election billed to take place on 25th February 2023 and 11th March 2023. “AN ORDER OF COURT directing the Defendant to Resume immediately the Registration of new voters, updating and Revision of the Register of voters until at least 90 days to the General Election slated to hold on 25th February 2023 and 11th March 2023.” “Whether having regards to the combined provisions of Sections 76(2), 77(2), 116(2), 117(2), 132(2) & (5) and 178 (2) & (5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended) as well as Sections 9(1), 9 (6), 10(1) and 12(1) of the Electoral Acts, 2022, the Defendant can or has the right or latitude to stop the continuous voter’s registration on 31st July, 2022, about over Seven and Half (71/2) months (208 days), or any other day not until ninety (90) days before the General Elections when there are millions of prospective voters including the Plaintiffs who have not Registered and are willing to do so.”
