In the senatorial race, Kipchumba Murkomen of UDA party emerged victorious for the third time consecutively after getting 141,091 votes defeating the outgoing governor Eng. Alex Tolgos who got 20,684 votes, Kiprop Marimoi Independent who got 2,382 votes, Kipkosgei Kipruto Independent 1,043 and Peter Keino getting 840 votes. Others who vied for the gubernatorial seat were Moses Changwony (Independent) who got 1,763 votes while Tabitha Seii vying on an ODM ticket got 1,094 votes. The governor-elect who was vying on a UDA ticket emerged victorious after garnering 147,706 votes defeating his opponent Anthony Chelimo, an independent candidate, who polled 11,759 votes.
