He sets himself up for the shot, on the spin, but sees his bouncing effort caught by Johansson. Oliver Rathbone has replaced Jamie Lindsay in the middle of the park. You have to give them a bit of credit, they put their bodies on the line. North End continued to play at a high intensity in the second half and chances kept coming. North End all over the Millers now. I have told them to get their heads up and be proud of their performance. That was the only missing, whether it be a good goal or a clumsy, lucky goal. It looks like PNE are going to come up short. The first-half finished as an end-to-end encounter, after a scrappy opening quarter-of-an-hour in which the visitors put men behind the ball and stayed compact. They changed shape a few times but there wasn't much more we could've done apart from put the ball in the net. Emil Riis then entered the fray and was denied by Viktor Johansson - who also thwarted Ben Whiteman from 25 yards. Troy Parrott led from the front for North End and caused endless problems with his energy, but the two sides went in with it goalless at the break - the on-loan Tottenham man having been denied one-v-one, while Daniel Johnson sent an early opportunity wide.

"Some people might be thinking the Championship is going to be something of a breeze this season, but whoever thinks that is a lunatic - we all know how hard it is going to be. We've ended up hanging on and we've secured a clean sheet, so I'm really proud of the players and they should be proud of themselves. I thought the first half was quite equal, but in the second half we struggled. I am proper proud of the lads, everything we're working on in training they're replicating out there on the pitch and the performance tonight was fantastic. We got ourselves overloaded in the midfield, but that's what can happen against quality opposition. Preston's Ryan Lowe: "I think that was probably one of the best performances from my team since I've been here, but obviously, without the goals.

3. Predicted Preston lineup. Lowe went with a 3-4-2-1 at Luton, playing Troy Parrott as a lone striker with midfield support from Alan Browne and Ali McCann.
“I am going into the game with a real confidence from the group. “We’ve had success at their place before but you can’t use that because it was a completely different team.” “All we’ve got to do is we’ve got to worry about us. “Paul Warne’s team is going to be very confident after that. I think Paul Warne has done a fantastic job over the years he’s been at Rotherham.” It’s an away fixture and if you’re going to have a successful season in the Championship you have to pick points up away from home – and there’s no reason why, if we play at our absolute best, we can compete and maybe come away with something,” he added. Yet after a 4-0 win at the weekend, Warne is going into the game with confidence and believes Rotherham can pick up a positive result tonight. The North End boss is looking to focus on Preston though and is hoping for three points tonight. The challenge for Ryan Lowe and his players tonight will be to pick up the first home win of the campaign. Recent history isn’t great either; Preston are winless in five against Rotherham and have lost the last three meetings, all to a 2-1 scoreline. A number of players have turned out for both Rotherham and Preston over the years. Lowe hasn’t given much away about Fernandez in recent days and we would expect him to be on the bench at best this evening, barring a very quick turnaround in his status.

The Millers made the trip in good heart following a four point haul in their first two Sky Bet Championship league games. There were two changes from the ...
The Millers had to contend with five minutes of stoppage time, but they were in no mood to give away what they had worked hard for, and the away fans were quick to hail the efforts of their team at the final whistle. The Lilywhites’ fans were cranking up the noise but Rotherham had a great chance, for a breakaway goal, in front of their supporters, when they switched play to great effect and Bramall presented Wiles with the chance to strike, but the Millers midfielder screwed his shot wide of the target. It was looking a matter of when not if for the home side but to their credit, the Millers were showing true grit and determination, in the face of a home onslaught while Brady was a tormentor-in-chief with a number of pinpoint set-piece deliveries. Just past the half hour mark, Rotherham came within a coat of paint of the opener when Harding injected pass into a Millers move before Dan Barlaser played a lovely ball into the path of Conor Washington, who worked a yard of space on his home marker, to calmly thread the ball through his legs, but agonisingly for the Millers, and in almost slow motion, the ball rolled tantalisingly wide of the far post. The Millers appeared to have taken the sting out of Preston’s lively opening and Wes Harding launched a long throw into the box and with no home defender clearing the danger, Hall hooked the ball over his own head and towards goal but Freddie Woodman made a comfortable catch. The home side were quick out of the blocks and they missed a gilt-edged chance to take the lead in the early minutes when a fortunate ricochet fell kindly for Troy Parrott, and the Tottenham loanee advanced with menace before playing a perfectly-weighted pass into the path of Daniel Johnson, who had ghosted away from the attentions of his nearest Rotherham marker, but he stroked the ball wide of the target when he really should have done better.
Preston North End couldn't find a goal to break the deadlock at home to Rotherham United, despite a flurry of chances in a dominant performance.
Lindsay and Johnson were both then frustrated on the end of Brady corners, before Whiteman and Riis saw late efforts kept out by Johansson, meaning North End could only take a point from an otherwise dominant display. Parrott had another chance before the half was up, as the striker was first sent in to the box and one on one by captain Alan Browne, however the Irishman was again left frustrated, with goalkeeper Viktor Johansson saving with his feet. The home side were on top throughout the game and created numerous opportunities to take the lead, but were left frustrated by missed chances as well as the woodwork on two occasions, and North End had to settle for a point.
