There were a few caveats: no team could play a club from their own association, and sides from the same association were paired to ensure they play on different nights. One team from each of the pots was then drawn into the eight groups, A–H. [draw for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage was made in Istanbul, Türkiye on Thursday](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/draws/2023/2001673/).

The 32-team draw for the Europa League draw was made on Friday. Arsenal and Manchester United will be pretty happy with how things panned out.

12:10 BST/07:10 ET: This year's final is in Budapest and UEFA are continuing to roll out the big guns. Manchester United will head Group E. For fans of alphabetical order, great news - Arsenal are in Group A. Philippe Clement's side were knockout out of Champions League qualification by PSV (fat lot of good that did them!) and will take on Red Star Belgrade, Ferencvaros and Trabzonspor in Group H. Roma, last season's Conference League winners, are facing Ludogorets and Real Betis with pot four to come. Mourinho's Roma and Copa del Rey winners Real Betis could produce some of the games of the round in Group D, while Monaco have been handed a particularly spicy proposition.
