Erik ten Hag will be hoping to secure his second Premier League win when his Manchester United side travel to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Man United are looking to find space in behind the Southampton defence but the hosts have coped well so far. Southampton are clearly looking to cause problems with balls into the box. In-form Che Adams has his first shot on goal with a header that loops over the bar. Then it's Adams who wriggles away from the defence and fires an effort straight at De Gea. 36’ Southampton 0-0 Manchester United 40’ Southampton 0-0 Manchester United A series of superb blocks by the Southampton defenders kept Fernandes, Eriksen and Elanga out before Bella-Kotchap missed the target with the host's best chance. 42’ Southampton 0-0 Manchester United It's Bella-Kotchap who makes a huge challenge to deny Elanga as he latched onto a one-two in the box. Manchester United Confirmed Lineup vs Southampton: Casemiro... (The Hard Tackle)

Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo are on the bench, as the starting eleven remains unchanged for Manchester United's meeting with Southampton.

Marcus Rashford will thus spearhead the Manchester United attack against Southampton, with Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga being the two wide men, leaving Ronaldo as a possible substitute. The midfield unit surprisingly does not see a change, with Casemiro on the bench. David de Gea retains his spot between the sticks, with Tom Heaton being the backup option on the bench.

Manchester United set to increase bid in order to seal Antony transfer (The Peoples Person)

Manchester United have three points to show after as many games in the Premier League and it has been far from smooth sailing for new manager Erik ten Hag.

“Antony is becoming restless at the two clubs’ failure to agree a fee for him. There are doubts whether United will go past the €100 million threshold but another increased bid is likely. [Casemiro](https://thepeoplesperson.com/2022/08/27/casemiro-to-wear-number-18-for-manchester-united-251802/) deal was also quite pricey as United entered negotiations quite late. But this is not expected to stop United’s pursuit of the Brazilian winger. They took their time before managing to get free agent Christian Eriksen to sign on the dotted lines. The Dutchman is facing the same issues which at one point had plagued his predecessors.

Follow every kick of Manchester City's Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland raises his boot high to try and get a ball he was never going to reach and catches Andersen studs up in the side of his head. Guardiola is going spare on the touchline, desperately wanting more width from his team and in particular the left. City have all the possession now and the game is being played exclusively in Palace's half. Riyad Mahrez meets a deep cross and heads it back into the centre. It's hard to see a way through. City are getting a bit panicked here. Guardiola must be happier to have decided against the double substitution that he was planning. Simply register, place an acca on football or horse racing and if it goes down, you will get a FREE BET of the same value, up to a max of £30! When they were trailing at Newcastle, Guardiola wanted them to slow things down and not rush. Aymeric Laporte is already out long-term with City not expecting a return for him for at least another month. What a noise. Two full-backs off for attackers.

United stormed out of the blocks after the interval, heaping early pressure on the home side and were rewarded 10 minutes following the restart. However, the best opportunity fell to Armel Bella-Kotchap. A Diogo Dalot cross caused mayhem in the penalty area as the Southampton keeper Gavin Bazunu and his defence somehow frantically denied Bruno Fernandes the chance to head home, before thwarting Anthony Elanga, Fernandes again and then Christian Eriksen – all from around the six-yard box.

JOE BERNSTEIN AT THE ETIHAD: Manchester City showed their credentials to be Premier League champions as they fought back from two goals down to beat Crystal ...

The hug between manager and star striker was genuine. The hat-trick goal showed off Haaland's speed and power. City were a different animal in the second half. He never runs away from the game, for a striker it is incredible. The other City scare came when Haaland raised a boot that caught Andersen in the head requiring treatment for the centre-half. When Edouard raised his foot to block Ederson's clearance, the ball dropped for Ayew to roll in for what he thought was 3-0. 'I saw his body language when we were 2-0 down and how he encouraged his mates. Vieira was again diplomatic: 'I don't want to spend too much time on it. We did that and got the result. 'In the end, we scored four goals, that is a really good thing. 'I haven't had a chance to look at it. But when we play at home we shouldn't concede early goals.

Haaland's 19-minute Manchester City hat-trick puts out Crystal ... (The Guardian)

Crystal Palace went 2-0 up before Erling Haaland struck a 19-minute second-half hat-trick to lead Manchester City to a 4-2 home victory.

Haaland’s second, which put City 3-2 up, finished a pinball-like sequence that twice involved Silva and a scuffed Stones effort that allowed the lethal 22-year-old to prod home. The referee did award a foul for this and home boos ensued as Palace’s goalkeeper dawdled over the restart. Eze, though, was a reasonable deputy, troubling City’s backline when Palace used the same breakaway tactics. The striker scored a scintillating 19-minute hat-trick that featured the equaliser and goals that sealed victory as the champions came from two behind for a fourth time in their past six competitive games. At this stage City were toothless and required cooler heads than the one Haaland showed when booting Andersen’s. While the referee, Darren England, awarded a foul – maybe against a high leg from Édouard – VAR, at least, might have intervened as the goal appeared legitimate.

The Portuguese pulled a goal back eight minutes into the second half when his low effort deflected off Jeffrey Schlupp and in. Erling Haaland came close to equalising with a glancing header at the near post that went narrowly over Guaita’s crossbar. Bernardo Silva would make it 2-1 before City’s Norwegian striker popped up with two close range finishes in the 62nd and 70th before completing his hat-trick with less than ten minutes remaining. Palace would double their lead soon after, again converting the few chances afforded to them. City made two changes from last week’s six-goal thriller at Newcastle with Ruben Dias and Riyad Mahrez replacing Nathan Ake and Ilkay Gundogan in the starting eleven. Just as they did in October last year, Palace stunned the home side by taking an early lead.
