Dieng kept out Piroe’s spot-kick but was unable to rescue Rangers following an error by Sam Field. After the hosts had a major early let-off when a clear foul on Chris Willock by Ben Cabango – who arguably deserved a red card for denying the Rangers man a clear goalscoring opportunity – went unpunished, Jimmy Dunne was adjudged to have handled Ryan Manning’s ball into the box. Keeper Seny Dieng saved Joel Piroe’s first-half penalty but the Dutchman atoned by scoring midway through the first half.

Swansea City play for the first time since the closure of the summer transfer window this afternoon as they host Queens Park Rangers.

They then had Benda to thank at the other end for keeping out Lyndon Dykes' effort as the home side took a slender advantage into the break following an entertaining 45 minutes. The noise here is incredible. Joe Allen then poked wide after latching on to Paterson's cross as the chances kept coming. The Hoops saw more of the ball as they looked for a route back into the match, although Swansea remained dangerous on the break as the visitors were grateful to see Kenneth Paal produce a last-ditch challenge to thwart Cooper. Piroe - who netted from 12 yards out at Middlesbrough last weekend - stepped up but saw his spot-kick brilliantly saved by Dieng. Benda's willingness to go long with clearances was telling, and Swansea did all in their power to ensure they didn't invite pressure on to themselves having been so heavily punished for the mistakes they made in August. Having missed a fine chance just before the interval, Cabango headed just wide from a Paterson corner shortly after the restart as Swansea continued to threaten. There were still a few nervy moments at the back for Swansea between Cabango and Benda, although the goalkeeper produced a fine stop to deny Chair just after the half hour mark. Cooper himself had a chance to test Dieng, although his effort from just outside the QPR box was well blocked as the hosts continued to be the more creative of the two sides. Swansea soon started to find space in behind the Hoops' defence, although Matty Sorinola was unable to lay the ball on a plate for Piroe to fire at Seny Dieng's goal following a slick through ball from Matt Grimes. QPR - on the back of successive wins - looked to start on the front foot, and they were livid after Cabango tugged back Chris Willock in the opening minute when the attacker was through on goal, with referee Oliver Langford ignoring the visitors' protests. But the Swans stood firm to keep hold of their star man, and he once again proved his worth by netting his third goal of the campaign shortly after missing a penalty to settle what was a fascinating affair at the Swansea.com Stadium.
