NCA officer unfairly sacked after offensive Muslim remarks (BBC News)

Vital evidence relating to the National Crime Agency officer's dismissal was lost, a tribunal finds.

Ms Brooke went on to claim the NCA had sacked her after she had raised concerns about Mr Javid. The NCA found that Ms Brooke said words to the effect: "If I was in their country I wouldn't expect an English-speaking Christian officer to be on the search. She stated the crime agency had acted reasonably in dismissing Ms Brooke in the "belief that the claimant (Ms Brooke) had made the comments alleged (or similar such comments)". NCA Regional Head Robert Burgess told the tribunal he had been advised that Mr Javid "is not, nor has ever been, a suspect within Operation Stovewood and as such, has been someone that my predecessor, and then subsequently I, have spoken to in order to ensure ongoing community engagement". Two other former NCA officers, who appeared as witnesses for Ms Brooke, said they too had raised concerns with senior management about the appointment of Mr Javid to deliver training on the basis that an associate of his had been a suspect in Operation Stovewood. The tribunal accepted that Ms Brooke's belief that Mr Javid had been a suspect was wrong.

Mayor's £2m fund aims to 'drastically reduce' exclusions (BBC News)

London's schools should "drastically reduce" the rate at which disruptive pupils are excluded, the city's violence reduction chief has said.

What about if there was another way that we could provide nurture and support and specialist people like therapists, councillors or psychologists who could do the work?' "I will always remember that moment because it really, really hurt me. "But if they are looking back at what is the basis for that poor behaviour or disruptive behaviour it is often that the child is not able to engage in the learning for some reason." This isn't saying schools aren't doing a good job. Cathy Stygal, the head at Mayesbrook Park School in Barking and Dagenham, said that the pressure on teachers to deliver good results for all their students was "incredible". Its former director of education Maureen McKenna said that "exclusions are a habit and what you need to do is to break that habit".
