Arsenal-linked Mudryk 'can't say no' to transfer as January deal for ... (Goal.com)

There was interest from the Gunners during the summer transfer window and they may return with a substantial bid in January.

In the same interview, Mudryk admitted that he is very happy at Shakhtar despite making it clear that he is keen to challenge himself at a higher level. His potential arrival would only increase the pool of high-quality young players available to Mikel Arteta. Of the interested teams, Arsenal looked most likely to prise Mudryk away from Shakhtar but, despite the player's interest, no agreement was reached between the two teams.

Arsenal have major 'advantage' in Mudryk and Kvaratskhelia race ... (Football.London)

The Gunners' long-term interest could be key if Edu revisits either deal in the future as Arsenal wait on Nicolas Pepe's replacement.

[Edu](https://www.football.london/all-about/edu) could be Shakhtar Donetsk's Mykhaylo Mudryk. [It was reported back in April](https://www.areanapoli.it/calciomercato/kvaratskhelia-napoli-l-arsenal-prova-a-intromettersi-altra-beffa-in-stile-pepe_455426.html) that Arsenal joined Napoli in the race for Kvaratskhelia, although the Serie A side was always viewed as favourites to secure his signature. Arsenal were planning to sign a replacement for the Ivorian in the remaining days of the transfer window until injuries to [Thomas Partey](https://www.football.london/all-about/thomas-partey) and Mohamed Elneny changed those plans late on. Whatever decision is taken and whoever is targeted on the wing, it's likely going to take a premium price to get a top-quality forward through the door. The 21-year-old Georgian international has hit the ground running since arriving in Naples this summer for a fee of just £8.6million, scoring four goals and providing two assists, one of which came against Liverpool on Wednesday. Whether Arsenal reignite any interest in either Mudryk or Kvaratskhelia is another matter, but considering the club has already built bridges with both camps, it could hand them a major advantage in the future. [Arsenal's](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/) long-term targets may have got away for now but will no doubt remain on their watchlist. "This is known in Rubin, they came from London to a match with Dynamo. As a result, Arteta will now have to go without a new midfielder and winger until the winter at least. The summer transfer window may have been and gone, but Arsenal's recruitment team will already be hard at work to ensure plans are in place for January and even next summer. And if we can do it, we will do it," he said. "We know as well where we are short, where we have to add more firepower.

'Strange silence' - How Queen Elizabeth II's death was reported ... (Football.London)

FC Zurich vs Arsenal will not only be remembered for the fact the Gunners won their opening UEFA Europa League game upon their return but for the sad news ...

'The FC Zurich fans had been in boisterous voice throughout the first half, not least when flares were lit following an equalising goal in the 44th minute, and some would have been immediately unsure even what was happening as the period of silence began. Whatever the truth, Arsenal were the one English club in competition when the announcement of her death came and, during the half-time interval, it was agreed that there should be a minute's silence before play resumed. 'It was just as the half-time whistle blew in St Gallen that the news from Buckingham Palace was announced. As the country enters a 12-day period of national mourning, sporting events over the weekend are likely to be postponed, meaning both the men's and women's sides are not likely to play out their fixtures against Everton and Man City, respectively. The Brazilian winger, 19, scored their first and, after Mirlind Kryeziu had equalised with a penalty, created the winner for Eddie Nketiah. The news of her death had broken at the end of the opening period. Therefore, this win in Switzerland courtesy of goals from youngster Marquinhos and second-choice striker Eddie Nketiah may be the north Londoners' last taste of action until the PSV and Brentford games next week for Mikel Arteta's side. 'Arsenal and Zurich held a minute's silence to mark the passing of her majesty The Queen. 'Arsenal's return to Europe passed smoothly in a game that will take a strange, unwanted place in history. There was noise from a minority of FC Zurich fans, and as Arsenal fans began to react with some booing, referee Mohammed Al-Hakim whistled for the largely respected period of silence to end and the match to restart.' Arsenal did not overly feel the effects of seven changes and have taken early control of Group A.' Her son Charles is now King Charles III as a result of this national tragedy.

ARSENAL beat FC Zurich in their first Europa League group stage match.

Lokonga is still learning the art of playing in a deeper-lying midfield role. Arteta doesn't require his No 6 to be a tough-tackling player but someone who can dictate play and pick out a pass. Arsenal need to be careful not to overload Bukayo Saka so early on in the season. He has had a few promising substitute appearances of late and took his opportunity in Switzerland. But the striker made up for his error with a good headed effort just after the hour mark. The Gunners narrowly beat FC Zurich 2-1 thanks to goals from summer signing Marquinhos and Eddie Nketiah.
