Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) is the northernmost of the seven Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Abdullatif Khalifa added: “Membership of GNLC will allow Ras Al Khaimah to share with the world its experience of consolidating education into the cultural, social, developmental and economic fabric of our society, and sharing our best practices to similar advanced cities internationally. According to the official website of UNESCO, cities that effectively mobilise their resources in every sector to promote inclusive learning, from basic to higher education, come under the learning city. New Delhi: Two cities in Kerala, Nilambur and Thrissur, have become part of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. The Rajput... Nilambur is a city with various socio-economic patterns marked by an urban and rural mix, and the majority of its population depends on agriculture and allied industries. With its support, the city intends to integrate all sectoral and economic strategies into its master plan. Nilambur's learning city strategy aims to ensure equality and inclusivity by using participatory democracy and creating grassroots committees. Thrissur is also the headquarters of four leading private sector banks in India and an important number of chit funds. Lifelong learning will also provide Nilambur with the tools to innovate in agriculture and handicrafts, promote eco-tourism and improve water management. The city also aspires to become a women-friendly city by ensuring equal opportunities in all sectors, promoting capacity-building and reducing harassment.
