Agriculture CS pick Linturi divorce case thrown out (Business Daily)

Milimani chief magistrate Heston Nyaga dismissed the case, saying Ms Kitany failed to prove that she was legally married to the former Meru senator.

He said Mr Linturi requested to pay the dowry in cash instead of the cows and sheep. “The court sympathises with the applicant who believed that she was validly married to Hon. The court, however, said Mr Linturi was still married to another woman identified as Mercy Kiamenyi and the customary marriage claimed by Ms Kitany could not suffice.

Peninah Malonza takes over from Najib Balala as Tourism CS (Capital FM Kenya)

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 27 – President William Ruto has appointed Peninah Malonza as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage.

Balala projected that full recovery of the industry is expected in 2023-2024. This came with a jump in inbound tourism earnings which more than doubled to Sh167.1 billion compared to the Sh83.2 billion recorded in a similar period last year. Malonza joins the Ministry at a time it is remaining optimistic to reach its pre-covid levels with the number of international tourists visiting the country since January to August growing by 91.3 per cent to 924,812, up from 483, 246 in the same period last year.

Outgoing Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani says he exits office with his head held high after having achieved much for Kenya.

He added that the milestone passed the Sh2 trillion annual mark that "managed to significantly reduce the budget deficit from an all-time high of 8.3 percent in the Financial Year 2019/2020 to the current 6.3 percent. "We successfully presided over an economic rebound to an all-time high of 7.5 percent GDP growth in 2021 a record revenue growth of 22.5 percent," Yatani said. In his farewell message, CS Yatani said that he is proud to have anchored and spurred Kenya's economic growth during his three-year tenure in office.

Yatani said during his tenure, the GDP grew to 7.5 per cent in 2021, despite facing the Covid 19 pandemic and, the rising of fuel and food prices. He said this was evidenced by his election to chair the AU committee of 15 Ministers of Finance (F15) in Morocco in June 2022. • The former CS said the ministry, under his administration, managed to reduce budget deficit from 8.3 per cent in FY 2019/2020, to the current 6.3 per cent. • Yatani said during his tenure, the GDP grew to 7.5 per cent in 2021, despite facing the Covid-19 pandemic and, the rising of fuel and food prices. In a letter addressed to Uhuru, Yatani said his appointment to the cabinet came as a patriotic call, and not as a privilege.
