Kluivert nets first goal for Valencia in 2-1 win at Osasuna (The Washington Post)

Justin Kluivert has scored his first goal for Valencia to help Gennaro Gattuso's side win 2-1 at nine-man Osasuna in the Spanish league.

Gattuso kicked a cooler while glaring at his defender, who will be suspended for next round’s game against Elche. Edinson, who has yet to score since joining Valencia, hit the crossbar with the resulting penalty. Defender Mouctar Diakhaby scrambled in a second goal for the visitors after Osasuna failed to clear a ball from a corner kick in the 54th.

MATCHDAY: Lyon coach under pressure, Osasuna hosts Valencia (USA TODAY)

Lyon looks to snap a four-game losing streak when it hosts promoted Toulouse in the French league.

Bremen has impressed so far on its return to the top division with a remarkable late win at Borussia Dortmund, when it scored three goals from the 89th minute to come from two goals down and win 3-2, and then last weekend’s 5-1 rout of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Another defeat could put Dutch coach Peter Bosz on an ejector seat as Lyon has slipped to seventh place, nine points outside the top three spots. The modest club from Pamplona has only two losses in seven rounds and ruined Real Madrid’s perfect start to the season last round when it earned a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Paul Higham has a 5/1 Bet Builder from Osasuna v Valencia in his La Liga betting preview and latest odds.

I also fancy a few cards here - both teams had a man sent off last game, and Valencia have seen six red cards brandished in seven league games. Both teams have scored in the last four meetings and eight of the last nine - with the last three also going over 2.5 goals. [both teams to score at 20/23](https://www.betfair.com/sport/football/spanish-la-liga/osasuna-v-valencia/31760589) in our Bet Builder.

Both sides then missed a penalty each with Osasuna forward, Chimy Avila, sending his chance well high after Valencia’s Hugo Duro fouled Kike García in the 59th, while Edinson Cavani, who has yet to score since joining Valencia, hit the crossbar with the resulting penalty. Defender Mouctar Diakhaby then further enhanced the visitors’ lead over Osasuna to 2-1, after the home side failed to clear a ball from a corner kick in the 54th. Kluivert, a forward, who was making his fourth appearance since joining Valencia from Roma on loan, made a nice run behind the defence, took a through ball from Edinson Cavani, and dodged the goalie to score in the 28th minute.

Follow that up with tense scenes that appear to show Gattuso staring at his player in a sense of disbelief and you get truly remarkable scenes that you can check out for yourself down below: [Guillem Balagué explained on Optus Sport](https://twitter.com/OptusSport/status/1578626493843795969) that the reason for Diakhaby being subbed off in the first place was because he’d picked up a yellow card. Going from zero to 100 in the blink of an eye, Gattuso went from semi-politely pleading with the referee to immediately turning around in a rage and thumping a Powerade bucket with his boot. That’s because the Guinea defender didn’t just find the back of the net, but he also found himself taking an early bath as he was sent off for a second yellow card in the 89th minute. As such, you can imagine that Gattuso must be a pretty fierce customer in the dressing room, too, now that he’s swapped taking to the field for dictating matters from the side of it. If you were lining up in midfield against Gattuso during his AC Milan prime then you could rest assured that you were in for one of the toughest 90 minutes of your career.
