With this, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Joe Lumley come back in if he’s fit and well again. If we can go into Christmas still in the top half, that will give us plenty of confidence in the months that follow and by the time the international tournament ends, we *should* have a decent number of players back fit. Whether we can have a nearly fully fit squad at our disposal at that point remains to be seen though. In fairness, they did strengthen at the back during the summer with Harry Darling and Nathan Wood both coming in - but Martin should be given the funds to bring in another option in January if needed because he deserves to be backed. It’s not as if the Swans are in any danger of breaching financial rules after cashing in on some of their best assets in recent years, with Flynn Downes moving to West Ham United in the summer. Nonetheless, both sides will see this as an opportunity to get three points on the board with both still at the top end of the table at this stage despite recent setbacks.

Swansea continued to probe and took the lead when Fulton's venomous low effort from 30 yards beat the diving Lumley and went in off the post, securing a result that was merited. There was a six-minute delay before the situation was corrected and Swansea came close to putting Reading's lights out. But Harry Darling halved the deficit before the interval, and second-half goals from Ollie Cooper and Jay Fulton lifted Swansea to seventh in the Championship standings with Reading dropping to ninth.

He squares to Oko-Flex who then plays Obafemi through on goal, but his shot is saved, and the offside flag goes up. They were then unable to test Lumley after Obafemi found more space in behind the Reading defence from Grimes' sublime pass. Grimes delivered a corner towards the front post, and Darling rose to head home his third goal of the campaign just before half-time. And a frustrating spell for the Swans was summed up as Paul Ince's side took the lead with their first meaningful attack of the game on 26 minutes. Cabango heads clear from a long Reading throw-in. Armstrong Oko-Flex replaced Nathan Wood for the second-half as Martin clearly felt there were still points to be taken from the contest. The striker then headed over from Cundle's cross as the hosts controlled proceedings, with Reading restricted to counter attacks. Reading finally showed signs of life after surrendering their lead, although they failed to trouble Benda. Harry Darling got the home side back into it with a headed goal from a corner before Ollie Cooper levelled proceedings in the second-half. Olivier Ntcham dropped to the bench along with Kyle Naughton who was replaced in the back three by summer signing Darling. Once play resumed, Swansea players showed they had no concerns over their own energy levels and swiftly set about causing the Royals problems. The home side were then calling for a penalty as Fulton took a blow to the face from Tyrese Fornah when stooping to win a header, although the Reading man took enough of the ball when making the challenge.
