Despite the result they are in a good place, believe it or not. The outside noise is not that important and the only thing I can draw from it is that as a club we must be doing quite well.' QPR go top amid reports Beale is set for Wolves (West London Sport)

In-form striker Lyndon Dykes scored twice as QPR beat 10-man Cardiff and went top of the table amid speculation over the future of Mick Beale.

And Paal added a third after being picked out by Field, directing a looping header from near the edge of the six-yard box beyond Allsop and into the far corner of the net. But Dykes did get his second, on 33 minutes, and again Chair was the provider, running onto Ethan Laird’s pass and delivering from the right for Dykes to apply a close-range finish. Simpson was adjudged to have fouled Armstrong and was very harshly red-carded for apparently denying the teenage striker a clear goalscoring opportunity.

The Bluebirds travel to Loftus Road for a midweek instalment of Championship action.

That game down at the Swansea.com Stadium has taken now taken on even more significance for Mark Hudson and Co. Instead it was left to Paal to add the third when he was found with a pinpoint cross to the back post before expertly heading back across goal, looping it over Allsop, and into the back of the net. Ryan Wintle in the book. It was the least Rangers deserved. Cardiff have a free-kick. That's two defeats in a row now with a very important derby clash against Swansea City next up. Hardly the news City fans wanted to hear ahead of this Sunday's South Wales derby. The Scotland international would have expected to convert that.
