A long ball over the top from Politano beats Smalling and Osimhen rifles his shot on goal on the half volley which fiercely sweves into the opposite corner! The league leaders break the deadlock and it is Osimhen with his fourth goal of the season! A ball into the box finds the substitute but Smalling gets another block in to stop his shot from hitting the target. Moments later Jesus slashes a shot wide from close range! Against Napoli, Nicolo Zaniolo put in an impressive performance in a more advanced role, but Tammy Abraham - currently goalless since September 12 - continues to look out of sorts and their fragile partnership highlighted how crucial the loss of Paulo Dybala is. The Portugal international is judged to have caught the Frenchman's legs.

Roma entirely toothless for first time in seven years - Football Italia (Football Italia)

Jose Mourinho's Roma did not have a good outing in their 1-0 loss to Napoli yesterday, putting in their worst attacking performance for seven years.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport, Roma failed to take a single shot on target in yesterday’s loss to Napoli, the first time they’ve looked so toothless in almost seven years. Mourinho was left frustrated on the sidelines and could only watch as Napoli overpowered his Roma side and took home all three points. The last time the Giallorossi failed to register a shot on target came in December 2015 in a 0-0 draw against the Partenopei.

Jose Mourinho's red card reaction spotted and press conference fury ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Jose Mourinho's Roma fell to a frustrating home defeat to Serie A leaders Napoli on Sunday as chaos reigned following an emotional and bad-tempered ...

The game ended in chaos too, with Mourinho's bemused reaction to a post-match red card summing up an evening that had no shortage of emotion – but a lack of clarity from the hosts. His players adore him too, frequently speaking of their admiration and appreciation of his approach. You know, the one who is always throwing himself to the ground. It was a moment of brilliance from visiting striker Victor Osimhen – ruthlessly punishing a rare Chris Smalling error in an otherwise impressive performance – that was the difference between the two sides. Yet Mourinho's flaws were on show too; their deep block came at the cost of no shots on target, no goals, and ultimately, another disappointing result against a domestic rival. Facing a Napoli side that had won ten successive matches and scored 32 goals in the process, this was always going to be an encounter Mourinho would relish.
