“This Christmas we remember and pray especially for the families of the four children who lost their lives so recently in Birmingham. The Archbishop of Glasgow, William Nolan, delivered a message emphasising that the peace of Christmas is “not a superficial peace”. They continue: “The coming of the ‘Word made flesh’ drags us back to both the primacy of person and of their solidarity.” The cardinal told Times Radio that “ritual helps us to step outside of our own little bubble, connect with something that we have received, inherited, and that we hope to pass on”. Speaking to Times Radio, Cardinal Vincent Nichols said that the celebration of Christmas “tells us the importance of ritual”. The Archbishop of Westminster has said that he sees “no shortage” of churchgoers with the “instinct for faith” this Christmas.
At Christmas we remember the birth of Jesus - God in the form of a human baby. He came into a dark world; a world of pain and suffering; he lived and loved, ...
This is also a call to action against the problems of our world. In gifting Jesus to the world, God wants us to be reminded that we not forgotten, that we are loved, that we are special and that we are valuable. The baby we wait for during Advent and celebrate at Christmas, comes to bring peace, healing, and justice. Jesus is the only way to the Father in heaven. Isaiah 9:6-7 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. But that is the confronting nature of truth. No the only way to get to heaven is by knowing Jesus (we can find out all about him in the Bible) and trusting him (specifically his death on the cross) to get you into heaven. It's the best news you'll hear this Christmas and I hope you take the time to get to know this Jesus for yourself, because there's far more still to come for those who accept Jesus and make him their saviour and their lord. It's through Jesus that we can have the assurance of eternal life in heaven. At Christmas we remember the birth of Jesus - God in the form of a human baby. When we receive a gift, it assures and reminds us that we are not forgotten, that we are loved, we are special, and we are valuable. Christmas is usually a time of joy and celebration, but for many this has been a tough year.
Christian leaders have issued messages of hope this Christmas after a year of devastating floods and rising household costs.
“It proves that God knows what he’s doing, that he’s in control and he is committed to saving his people from an otherwise hopeless situation.” And what does it mean for communities right now, who are caught up in the aftermath of devastating floods?” he said. “At Christmas, we hear Him for the first time, not in thunderclap or trumpet blast, not in fine words or solemn pageant, but in a baby’s cry.
Dearly beloved,Our contemporary world, in its majority, is not opposed to the presence of various religions.
We firmly believe that we have a living faith and a living God. And it is this true and living God that we want in our life, it is He whom we desire, it is He in whom we believe, it is He in whom we hope. It has however conceptually created an impression of what constitutes religion, from which it acknowledges certain ideas, cultural aspects and teachings, its social contribution and historical interrelation to people and civilisation.

Christmas 2022 may prove to be like this as we project the hopes and fears of all the years on to the infant of Mary and pray for the redemption of the world. And God does so in order to redeem the world, not to condemn the world. Few of us had thought that Russia’s execution of war in Ukraine would bring with it the cascade of consequences that it has.

How we need the Prince of Peace more than ever in our world! Tens of thousands have lost their lives on both sides, and, just as there is no justifiable reason for this war, there is no end in sight. For the Greek, click here:
Bishop Graham's Christmas article has been published in the Easter Daily Press and talks of the love of Jesus illuminating our churches. Heacham Parish Church.
The light of Jesus lights up the harrowed faces of those impacted by war. Calmness, care, compassion, courageousness and celebration are so often a part of the life of church communities. Day in, day out, I’m humbled by the care and compassion our churches offer by providing practical help in their communities. How we need the coming year to be marked out by calmness, care, compassion, courageousness and celebration. Perhaps there were also another set of words beginning with the letter ‘c’ that shone bright in that place. So, too, are a number of other challenges across the world beginning with the letter ‘c’.

God came to us as a vulnerable child to show us the depths of his love. “Generosity continues to stock the foodbanks on which record numbers of people depend. “The instinct to welcome people into our own space is deep within us as human beings, and perhaps it has felt more strongly than ever this year, when so many are experiencing cold and poverty, as fuel bills rise and the cost of living crisis bites. The second is the comfort of strangers . For Christians, this great festival is a celebration of the wondrous story of our God coming among us to share our life, with all its challenges and hardships. “Christmas has brought hope to every chapter of our history, especially the darkest. But a kiss may be the touching of lips with the mutual exchange of bugs and saliva but somehow that doesn’t quite get to the heart of romance! “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas time let us also remember and act upon the last verse of Christina Rossetti’s famous carol: ‘What can I give Him, poor as I am? All of us look at the world through particular spectacles which allow us to filter out unwelcome information that doesn’t fit our world view. “In recent days I travelled down to the south-east of England only to be rather unexpectedly overwhelmed by winter. She talks of the “devastating impacts of conflict, violence, disease, and climate change” that have displaced people from their homes as well as the “many personal, social and economic pressures” in the UK. But he says there is joy and comfort to be found in the love that God has.

It is the first year King Charles III will take on the royal tradition of delivering a Christmas message to the United Kingdom and Commonwealth nations. "The monarch is taxpayer funded. Five years later, she made her first televised Christmas broadcast. As the longest-serving British monarch in history and a Queen who ruled in a time of great technological development, Queen Elizabeth II made the Christmas speeches her own. As depicted in the 2010 film, The King's Speech, King George VI had a speech impediment, which made the increasingly prominent role broadcasting had in the work of a monarch challenging. The first Christmas speech was broadcast live from the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, in the east of England, and followed a special programme called All the World Over, where British citizens from the Empire shared their Christmas greetings.
