“We’re trying to recover. For if the Irons’ television set was displaying little but the muddled fuzz of static in November, then heading it seems now to be in a state of almost total malfunction, screen cracked, insides knackered. I love coming in every day seeing them and getting to train every day with them is fun.” “The chance then came to come on loan here and I’ve never been so excited. On the evidence seen so far, it may even have made things worse. Brentford though have more freedom to go strong in the FA Cup. We only played late on Wednesday night so we’re still trying to get the players back together and get them ready.” Follow all the action with our LIVE blog below, featuring expert analysis from Malik Ouzia at the ground. But by who and how? A 2-0 defeat to Brentford made it five in a row in the Premier League for the Hammers and saw David Moyes serenaded with chants of “sacked in the morning” by the away fans. “Kurt Zouma is getting closer, but maybe not yet,” said the West Ham boss. They’re such nice boys and have good energy.

Brentford vs West Ham - FA Cup third round: Live score, team news ... (Daily Mail)

West Ham are looking to arrest their terrible recent form that has seen them go seven games without a win as they travel to the Brentford Community Stadium ...

They have now taken points off Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and the Reds this year and will be looking to keep an excellent run alive in front of their ever-lively home crowd. A result today could mark an important turning point in their season (and briefly answer questions over the manager’s job), but Brentford will be firm favourites. The players have taken to the pitch as we approach kick-off in West London. The Sky Blues have a rich history in the FA Cup after their famous 1987 campaign that saw them beat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley to lift the Cup, a game often named the greatest FA Cup final of all time. He's had a couple of nice bits of movement in the Bees half and looks like something of a focal point. The move appears to have woken the Bees up, as they whip in a couple more dangerous looking crosses.

Match report as Said Benrahma scored a late winner against his former side to send West Ham into the FA Cup fourth round; the Hammers substitute struck home ...

"They've also got a good football team and normally good football teams would like to have a good pitch. The standard of the pitches in the Premier League is normally very good, I have to say. "We did everything we could, if you look at all the stats, there should have been a winner and it's us. There was one moment we should have avoided." "I felt we did more than enough to win a tight game. "I'm not devastated, I'm irritated. "The cup would be a real bonus for us, getting our Premier League form correct is obviously a big priority though. Brentford have a really good set-up, business model and how they do things. "It was a tough game. The pitch is obviously not good at all. "It was important to stop conceding goals. "I could have easily started Said today.

Nine ex-West Ham strikers signed to score goals that never actually ... (Daily Express)

West Ham have gained a reputation for signing strikers that have struggled in the Premier League.

West Ham managed to fend off the challenge of their Premier League rivals to secure the signature of Jordan Hugill in 2018 for £10m. West Ham signed Simone Zaza on a loan to buy deal from Juventus in 2016, which would see them have to fork out £17.5million for his services after a certain amount of appearances. Another player that never justified a fair price tag was Albian Ajeti, who joined the club from Basel for £8m. It was a mistake though, as he made just three appearances for the club and failed to score or register an assist. Having spent time at Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco previously, Nene wasn’t expected to look out of place in the Premier League despite arriving as a free agent. South Africa international Benni McCarthy joined West Ham in the summer after Mido departed, but had equally as little success at the club.

With most teams having played 18 matches, the league table has taken shape, and we now have a good idea of what is left to play for as we move into the ...

It has been a very tough first half of the season at St Mary's. Scoring goals remains a major issue that needs to be fixed, though, with Wolves currently the lowest scorers in the division having found the net just 11 times. 12 months on, and with Frank Lampard now at the helm, things aren't any better. That win came in a chaotic end-to-end game, and Marsch is still trying to implement his playing style over 10 months after succeeding Marcelo Bielsa. Instead, they find themselves in a relegation scrap. Leicester's start to the season was nothing short of horrendous. Yet Rodgers somehow survived, and slowly the Foxes began to turn the corner. Whether they can all click together before it's too late will ultimately determine their fate. Villa have won three of their five top-flight matches with Emery at the helm, beating Manchester United and Tottenham along the way. Emery is known for having his teams well-organised, and Villa have only kept one clean sheet since he arrive, indicating that he has more work to do. Or will they get themselves out of trouble? Likelihood of relegation: 3/10
