There are no easy teams in today's draw with any side well capable of beating any other on their day. Only Sevilla toiled to advance and were probably second best against a solid Alaves side but one effort on target and one goal from Rakitic was all it took to see Jorge Sampaoli's men advance. Next week's cup game will be the 26th Madrid derby in the Copa del Rey. I imagine this round will be no different and that we know the match times later this evening. Following the draw, it's hard not to put forward FC Barcelona as favourites to lift yet another Copa del Rey title on 6 May with Osasuna down as the dark horses of the eight. The quarter-final games will be played on 24,25 and 26 of January with the semi-final draw to be staged a week today. Jorge Sampaoli's side will have seen how Real Betis enjoyed the 'home city advantage' last year and the red and white side of the city may look to the cup as a pleasant distraction from their woes in LaLiga. Valencia destroyed Sporting Gijon 4-0 and finally, Atletico Madrid beat Levante 2-0, keeping them in the only competition they have a realistic shot at winning. Holders Real Betis were shocked at home on penalties by Osasuna, with Sergio Herrera declaring himself the hero. The Copa del Rey seedings are no more as the competition moves into the quarter-finals.

The tie will be played as a single game on the 25th of 26th of January at the Santiago Bernabéu.

On their way to the quarters, Atlético got the better of Almazán (0-2), Arenteiro (1-3), Oviedo (0-2) and Levante (0-2). This will be the eighteenth time we face Atlético in a Copa knock-out tie, and the previous 17 encounters make happy reading for our team (11-6). The tie is set to be played as a single game on the 25th or 26th of January at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Barcelona and Real Madrid entered the Copa del Rey 2022-23 quarter-finals after overcoming AD Ceuta FC and Villarreal respectively.

As per Opta, Militao has scored his 4th goal for Real this season in all competitions (22 games), as many as in his previous 91 games for them. Ceballos has scored and assisted in a single game for Real for the first time. In the second half, Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for Real before Eder Militao and Dani Ceballos responded. Barca have now overcome Ceuta for the 4th time in Copa del Rey history. Ansu Fati scored the third in the 70th minute before Kessie and Lewy completed the rout.
