LAZIO v AC MILAN: MATCH PREVIEW (AC Milan)

Last appointment of the first half of the season: all you need to know about the match at the Olimpico.

"We have to face these moments of difficulty, it will be another test to overcome with unity and humility," Coach Pioli said in the press conference. "They have always put us in difficulty, and we can't think we won't encounter obstacles, they will be more motivated than usual. Undoubtedly significant is the absence in attack of Ciro Immobile, who was injured during the match in Reggio Emilia: to replace the Lazio captain Sarri should opt for Felipe Anderson as false nine in the trident, supplemented also by Pedro and Zaccagni. In terms of formation, Díaz, De Ketelaere and Pobega will battle it out for a place: in the latter case the team could also line up in a 4-3-3. Sandro Tonali has served his suspension, and will be back in midfield in place of the suspended Ismaël Bennacer. We build up to the game with our Match Preview.

AC Milan thrashed by Lazio! Sarri's side romp to 4-0 win as Napoli ... (Goal.com)

Current Serie A title holders AC Milan were demolished in a 4-0 defeat away to Lazio that ensures Napoli command a mammoth lead atop of the table.

Milan are now 12 points behind league leaders Napoli and still have a number of big games to play in the second half of the season, along with trying to progress through the Champions League knockout stages. Maurizio Sarri's side are flying high in the league, but will also fancy their chances of getting past Juventus in their upcoming Coppa Italia quarter-final. They found themselves 1-0 down after just four minutes thanks to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's opener and couldn't find a way back into the game after that, on an incredibly difficult night in Rome.

Lazio 4-0 AC Milan: Maurizio Sarri's side produce superb display to ... (Eurosport.com)

AC Milan's desperate run of form continued as they suffered a humiliating 4-0 Serie A defeat to Lazio in Rome.

Marusic is slipped in down the right wing and goes for goal, but his shot comes off the far post and drops kindly into the path of Zaccagni for a tap-in. Zaccagni cuts in from the left wing, rolls a cross in and Milinkovic-Savic is there to finish. Tomori limps off to the bench and is replaced by Kjaer. An electric performance – and all of this in the absence of Lazio’s star striker Ciro Immobile. He set up the first goal, scored the second, had a hand in the fourth, and could’ve had another couple himself were it not for some desperate defending. Yes, against Lazio they lost Tomori midway through the first half and Hernandez was unavailable, but this is a recurring theme.

However, Zaccagni doubled Lazio’s lead two minutes later, after midfielder Adam Marusic hit the post from the edge of the six-yard box for the Italian to follow up with a tap-in from close range. Anderson could have added a second in the 36th minute but the pass he received from Pedro just in front goal was slightly too powerful for the Brazilian to convert. Milinkovic-Savic fired Lazio in front after four minutes with a low shot into the bottom-left corner after Zaccagni set him up with a cross into the middle of the box.

Lazio put their noses ahead just four minutes into the game on Tuesday night Mattia Zaccagni rolled across from the left, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic swept it into the box. The Rossoneri had a poor start to the new year as they suffered back-to-back draws in Serie A, an exit in the Coppa Italia and a 3-0 Supercoppa defeat to Inter Milan.

Serie A 2022-23: AC Milan Thrashed 4-0 At Lazio As Their Winless ... (Outlook India)

Defending champion AC Milan was beaten 4-0 at Lazio in Serie A on Tuesday to extend the Rossoneri's winless streak to five matches across all competitions.

Perhaps the most painful defeat came last week when Milan was beaten 3-0 by city rival Inter Milan in the Italian Super Cup. Zaccagni’s cross set up a goal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic four minutes in at the Stadio Olimpico and Zaccagni then scored off a rebound in the 38th. Mattia Zaccagni set up one goal then scored the other as Lazio moved into third and the Champions League places.
