Scottish roundup: Rangers beat Hearts but Celtic win maintains nine ... (The Guardian)

Celtic brushed aside Livingston 3-0 to maintain a nine-point lead at the top over Rangers, who beat Hearts 3-0 with an Alfredo Morelos double.

Danny Armstrong’s superb strike was enough to lift Kilmarnock off the foot of the Premiership table as they defeated fellow strugglers Dundee United 1-0 at Rugby Park. Hosts Aberdeen managed to hold out until half-time before Curtis Main fired St Mirren ahead and, despite Bojan Miovski’s 74th-minute leveller, Main grabbed his second with nine minutes left and Declan Gallagher hit a third on the stroke of full time. Greg Taylor eventually breached a resolute Livi defence in the 29th minute with a thunderous drive and three minutes later Daizen Maeda rather fortuitously added a second.

Kyogo Furuhashi finished the contest with a fine finish in first half injury time. Now with 18 goals in 22 league games, and 21 in total, the formidable strike ...

Maeda was inches from claiming his second of the night with a diving header from Jota’s cross. As the half hour approached, the fact that Anderson was playing in a different postcode would have been of little concern to David Martindale. Drifting wide, his cross caught the visitors on the heels. Kyogo Furuhashi finished the contest with a fine finish in first half injury time. The full-back took one touch to steady himself before nailing a left-footer into George’s far corner from 16 yards. The game took on a predictable pattern. But Anderson hit the upright with Stephane Omeonga’s follow up deflected wide. With their five-man defence sitting deep, the visitors were determined to deny Celtic any rhythm. Yet their threat was dealt with in much the same way as a troublesome fly being swatted. A heavy tackle by Bruce Anderson on Callum McGregor brought another break in play. It was a good night’s work for Celtic. They are just eating up the games.

I thought the second and third goals were avoidable. We made a good chance for ourselves in the first half with Bruce [Anderson]. "He is a quality player, he is always a threat. Celtic continued to smother their visitors throughout an utterly dominant first period with Kyogo putting the gloss on a ruthless scoring display. "I thought we were good tonight. Celtic had the game wrapped up within 33 first-half minutes, again demonstrating how their unrivalled dominance on home turf is continuing to power their 53rd title charge.

Ange's cheeky quip at journo after Celtic win as Hearts coach's bizarre Kuol call 'backfires' in 'nightmare'. Chelsea sign Enzo Fernandez for $184M | ...

“He has composure in his finishing, passion and energy and his appetite to work on everything makes us a better team.” “Sometimes he gets goals which people will say, for want of a better word, fortuitous. He gets his rewards for it.” I’ve known him for a while now and he always get goals. How many runs does Daizen make in a game? Anyone who watches Daizen sees he’s constantly making runs and constantly in those areas.
