Barcelona vs Sevilla, La Liga: Team News, Preview, Lineups, Score ... (Barca Blaugranes)

Barça return home looking to maintain their comfortable lead at the top of the table against a dangerous team.

Sevilla have nothing to lose at this point of the season but aren’t playing well enough to be a real threat. They cannot be taken for granted and will present a challenge, but Barça have the better team, are playing at home and are almost guaranteed a clean sheet these days. If the attack can function against what might be an open Sevilla defense, they could win easily. This team could be devastating once Ousmane Dembélé returns from injury, but for now it’s all about getting better, playing well and continuing to win games. Sampaoli constantly changes personnel and formations and wants his team to play expansive, possession-based attacking football no matter the opposition. After two weeks of poor performances and nail-biting wins Barça finally played great football again, dominating Betis for all 90 minutes and getting three big points at one of the toughest grounds in the country.

La Liga Odds: Barcelona vs. Sevilla prediction, pick, how to watch ... (ClutchPoints)

Barca hosts the Sevillistas! We continue our La Liga odds series, featuring our Barcelona-Sevilla prediction and pick.

Barcelona’s winning streak will come to an end at some point, but it will not be in the hands of the Rojiblancos that just kept three clean sheets at this point. Jorge Sampaoli’s squad looks to snatch the three points against the league leaders to put them to a potential 11th-place standing, but they will have to show their grit and resilience on the pitch. Sevilla makes a steady improvement on their way to the top of the Spanish football table, but picking up a win here will surely be hard-earned. Sevilla has spent some time in the relegation zone, but picking up three wins in their last four league matches has propelled the team to 14th place with 21 points earned. The Blanquirrojos also look to improve in their run as evidenced by their Copa del Rey journey. Sampaoli’s roster is also suffering some depletion to the unavailability of key players. Their pace and form grant the team 65.2% ball possession, making 554 accurate passes per game which result in 15.6 total shots and 6.2 corners on average. Robert Lewandowski continues to make his scoring duties on the pitch. They currently have a five-point edge over Real Madrid while third-placers Real Sociedad has 11 points to catch them up top. Pedri and Dembele each have five, while Raphinha has three to his name. Barca had a productive January, earning eight wins and the Spanish Super Cup. Sevilla is fresh off of its 3-0 demolition over Elche, with Marcos Acuna posting an outstanding game.

Gil's return to Spain will be something to watch as he was struggling for playing time at Tottenham but his skill on the ball suits Spanish soccer well. It was one of four prominent deals caught up in paperwork around the world but it could be an important one as Barcelona are quite thin at right back for the remainder of the season. Their strength has been in a strong defense that has allowed only seven goals this season but Sevilla have also improved after Jorge Sampaoli took over in October.

Barcelona look to capitalise on another slip up from Real Madrid as they host Sevilla at the Camp Nou on Sunday with the opportunity to pull eight points ...

Suso and Lucas Ocampos have been rotated to the bench by Sampaoli, with Oliver Torres and Pape Gueye slotted in on the flanks. Jorge Sampaoli has turned things around at Sevilla, and it's mostly thanks to his ability to get the best Sevilla players back on form. 60 mins to kick: Sevilla have now entered their lineup, and Jorge Sampaoli has made a few changes in midfield. Kickoff: The match is under way after a few minutes delay at the iconic Nou Camp, as Barcelona look to go eight points clear at the top of the league table! Sergio Busquets is fouled on the right flank, and he's requiring treatment, looks a bit of a painful one as he twists his ankle under the pressure from Youssouf En Nesyri. Busquets is out of contract at the end of the season, and is thought likely to leave the club. 3rd min: Barcelona are holding the majority of the early possession, unsurprisingly, but have yet to venture forward into the attacking third. Gavi manages to head it to the Polish striker on the right side of the six-yard box, and from a tight angle he's got a chance to fire it on frame. A great bit of defending, in all honesty, given the angle of that delivery. 20th min: Barcelona are pummeling Sevilla at the moment, already winning their fourth corner of the match. The flag goes up for offside on a ball down the right from Gonzalo Montiel, and Barcelona win the ball back. The Blaugrana could use pace to try and beat Sevilla at the expense of some possessional dominance.

Barcelona vs Sevilla LIVE: Xavi's side look to go EIGHT points clear at the top of LaLiga following Real Madrid's loss to Mallorca with struggling visitors ...

Kounde plays a wonderful diagonal up to the head of Gavi who is wonderful in the air. The reigning champions' loss at Mallorca has handed Barcelona a golden opportunity to go well clear in the title race. They have gone 15 games in the league, home and away, without losing to tonight's visitors. The midfielder remains down and there is some movement on the bench. The foul comes from a Raphinha dart in-field - something he hasn't done enough at Barcelona thus far - before the ball pops up to Kounde who is hauled down. The pressure isn't unsurvivable for Sevilla but it is growing and Barcelona will be encouraged by their play so far. Poor decision making by Raphinha there as should come inside but instead opts to try and go on the outside of Acuna. Sevilla are really settled into a shape now and are unlikely to come out of it. Only one team is committed to winning this game at the moment - but they have shown promise when they've gone forward, or at least promise in that they are able to get forward. The Serbian midfielder heads the ball narrowly past the post with Bono rooted to the spot. Raphinha has not been good enough on the right with Barcelona needing to stretch the game. Of course, Sampaoli, who has set his team up to get a point and get out as soon as possible, will be the far happier of the two coaches.
