Notts County vs Dagenham & Redbridge: National League leaders ... (BT)

After Wrexham play at home against Dorking earlier in the day, Notts County host Dagenham & Redbridge looking to make it eight wins in a row.

In total, County have scored 88 goals in just 34 league games and are on course to end the season with 119. An upturn in form will be needed soon if they are to close the five-point gap to the last playoff place. Daggers fans will hope it’s the former on Saturday afternoon as they head to Meadow Lane, one of the most formidable stadiums in the fifth tier. The league leaders have scored four goals in each of their last three National League games and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they manage it again. With the former in action at home to Dorking at 3pm on Saturday, attention will turn to Notts County in the late kick-off live on BT Sport. The pressure continues to mount on both Notts County and Wrexham in one of the most memorable National League title races ever.

Notts County 1-2 Dagenham LIVE: Effiong gives visitors surprise lead (Nottinghamshire Live)

Live updates from Meadow Lane as the Magpies welcome managerless Dagenham and Redbridge in the late kick-off in the National League.

Patient build-up from the Magpies ends with the perfect reward. Huge penalty appeals as Baldwin tangles in the area with a Dagenham defender, but referee Lewis Smith waves away their protests. Into the final ten minutes. Notts make another quick start to the half - O'Brien is found inside the area and lays the ball off to Bostock who sees his effort gathered easily by Justham. Barely a minute into his introduction, Jones takes aim from the edge of the area - with his effort narrowly curling beyond the far post. A number of chances in quick succession fall to the hosts - Jones with the pick of the bunch as he sees hisn effort cleared off the line, again!

Notts 1-2 Dagenham (Notts County)

Our 25-game unbeaten run came to an end as, despite a dominant display, we were beaten 2-1 by Dagenham and Redbridge.

Somehow, both the referee and his assistant decided no foul had been committed. Far from being stunned into submission, we continued our assault on the Dagenham goal and were thwarted unbelievably once more in the final minute of normal time as Langstaff struck the post before Chicksen’s blocked shot fell to Austin, who did brilliantly to control but could only fire the ball at a defender on the line with Justham stranded. Justham then had to parry a low Matt Palmer effort wide before he could only parry a Rodrigues shot and breathe a sigh of relief as O’Brien couldn’t adjust his body to score on the rebound. And our frustrations were compounded on 31 minutes when Rodrigues was caught in possession and we were unable to prevent Balanta from rounding off the counter-attack to equalise. We only had to wait a matter of seconds for our first opportunity as Nemane capitalised on a defensive error to cut in from the left and drag a low shot wide of the near post. And, five minutes later, we were in front when Rodrigues pushed the ball into space on his right and fired a low shot through a crowd of bodies, beating Elliot Justham in the Daggers’ net.

National League: Notts County 1 Dagenham & Redbridge 2 (Barking and Dagenham Post)

Dagenham & Redbridge upset the form book to shock National League leaders Notts County with a memorable win.

The 120 travelling Daggers fans in a crowd approaching the 7,500 mark - and those watching the live BT Sport coverage at home - were then sent into raptures four minutes from time when Effiong fired in off the underside of the crossbar after a surging run by Robinson. And the visitors had a let-off when former Dagger Jodi Jones cut inside and saw his shot hit the outside of the post on 79 minutes. County's Aaron Nemane fired the first chance of the game wide in the opening minute, with Macaulay Langstaff off-target when the ball was floated into the box on 10 minutes.
