It was fair that it was a draw after an hour and a point would've been a great point. Unfortunately, if you are not absolutely concentrated until the end - it is the Championship and that's it. We told Ched to follow it in and it's parried into the path of Ched Evans to tap home into an empty net. We asked them to be more on the front foot, counterpress better and get more quality into the strikers second half. We know it is not easy to play here but we started well. We need that reaction and to be proactive, to take those opportunities. We lost our minds a bit and made stupid mistakes. I thought, first half, we were in the game and created chances. If you keep it out at one end you've always got a chance of winning football games. North End goalkeeper Freddie Woodman had soldiered on after taking an early blow - and he came up with two crucial second half saves. Both sides went in at half-time knowing they had to raise their performance levels in the second half. The first was to push Perry Ng's goal-bound free-kick around the post, before a wonderful reflex save saw Sory Kaba's powerful strike kept out.

Preston North End extended their unbeaten run to six games with a win at Deepdale over Cardiff City, courtesy of goals from Tom Cannon and substitute Ched ...

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors, as Alnwick sprinted out of his net and collided with a threatening Cannon outside the area, which resulted in a straight red card. The half was certainly the more eventful of the two and Brad Potts missed out on a chance to extend PNE’s lead four minutes later, after connecting his foot on the ball at the far post, from a curled free-kick which was taken from distance. The visitors created the first opportunity of the afternoon, as Jaden Philogene down the middle dinked a pass into the path of Kion Etete five minutes in, which required Freddie Woodman to rush out of his goal and injure himself in the process.
