Why The Whale ends up dehumanising us all (The Guardian)

Brief letters: Not watching The Whale | Rishi Sunak's pool | Morality of greed | Burying Marx and Spencer | Missing newspapers.

We read the paper online, but it means we can’t cut out the Martin Rawson cartoon and stick it on the kitchen wall. Now the wheels really have come off everything. But I was shocked to see the director’s implicit claim that the film “humanises” fat people.

“I love to write comedy, and I like to write physical comedy,” Rustin said. It is set in a 19th-century boarding house that is secretly an underground women's rights activity hotspot, and itself unfolds like a whodunit. I've just been rewriting and rewriting and rewriting this play,” she said. I think especially [since] we're all just counting our blessings through this crazy time where we've been so polarized from the space that we hold together — this ancient art form where we're trying to create something new within it,” Pumariega said. She says being part of the Summit was a valuable experience for her as an artist. It's a recovery play and it borrows a lot from my story and looking at the audience and seeing my whole family there. “It's definitely, probably the most professional reading of a play I've done, if that makes sense,” said Brasch, who is the brother of CPR News reporter Sam Brasch. And so it's always kind of a mixed bag afterwards.” [Denver School of the Arts](https://dsa.dpsk12.org/) graduate [Jake Brasch’s](https://www.jakebrasch.com/) [The Reservoir](https://www.denvercenter.org/news-center/five-fast-facts-about-the-reservoir-by-jake-brasch/), is also set in Denver — his hometown. “It's surreal, and it's terrifying,” Brasch said.
