Tangerine smoke soon spread out onto the pitch as the North Stand launched a tribute to Tony Johnson in the 55th minute. The game entered a lull at this point, which suited Blackpool just fine. CJ Hamilton’s pullback caused chaos in the QPR box, with the ball falling to Morgan Rogers whose shot was blocked. It was a hugely significant moment for the defender on a personal level as it was his first ever goal in tangerine. With nine minutes of the first-half still to go, a good number of QPR fans headed for the exits as Blackpool added a fourth. Seny Dieng came rushing out of his goal to deal with a long ball into the box but he made an absolute hash of it, giving Nelson an absolute gift as he turned the ball home into the back of the empty net.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP: Blackpool decimate QPR and Chris ... (Daily Mail)

Blackpool stole the headlines when they claimed their biggest win of the season against Queens Park Rangers, thrashing the London team 6-1.

Viktor Gyokeres broke the deadlock seven minutes after half-time with his 19th goal of the season, but the home side snatched a point seven minutes from time when Ryan Nyambe's cross went in off McFadzean. Tom Cannon fired the visitors ahead from Robbie Brady's 23rd-minute knock-down, but Hakeem Odoffin levelled before the break only for Evans to win it in added time at the end of the first half. Ched Evans piled the pressure on lowly Rotherham as Preston extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-1 win at the New York Stadium.

But the second half had barely started when QPR again defended a Patino corner woefully, enabling Lyons to head in Blackpool’s fifth. Martin had an excellent chance to reduce the deficit at 3-0 but was unable to take it and his weak effort was cleared off the line by James Husband. Chris Martin pulled a goal back by heading in Lyndon Dykes’ cross shortly before the interval, but Lyons scored again a couple of minutes into the second half and Kenny Dougall added a late sixth for the Seasiders.
