Antonio Conte launched a stinging attack on his 'selfish' Tottenham players while also criticising the ownership of the club following their collapse.

“In my experience, I can tell you that if you want to be competitive, if you want to fight, you have to improve this aspect. “He doesn’t want to be at Spurs. We have to play to show desire. I’m going to hammer the club, hammer Daniel Levy and everything about them’. The players? And the players? We have to play to make our fans proud of us. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment. We have to think a lot about this.” To understand that we play for the badge. They don’t want to play under stress. They don’t want to play under pressure.

The truths and flaws in Antonio Conte's explosive Tottenham tirade ... (Football.London)

Here are our Tottenham talking points after their 3-3 draw at Southampton and a remarkable press conference from Antonio Conte.

"If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. "Not only the club, the manager and the staff, the players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change. This is a very different Tottenham to the one he was ejected from three-and-a-half years ago, a club with a cluttered structure inside that now bears very little resemblance to what he will remember. I said that I want to see the fire in their eyes, in their hearts. If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. "I said that I wanted to see the fire, not that I have seen. One reporter attempted to put that to the Spurs head coach on Saturday and he was interrupted before the first few words had left his mouth. While seemingly trying to claim that the club didn't deserve all the flak and the players deserved their fair share, he uttered the words that may end up as his club epitaph: "Tottenham's story is this. "Until now I try to hide the situation but now no because I don't want to see what I have seen today because this is unacceptable and also unacceptable for the fans. They follow us, pay for the ticket and to see the team another time to have this type of performance is unacceptable. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment. The club reeks of a fear of the inevitability of failure rather than the courage to remove it.

Tottenham Hotspur was involved in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

A win at Southampton, would have moved Spurs up to third place in the Premier League table. “Yesterday’s rant was the self interest of a narcissist whose anti football tactics have not made the best of what we have. “I’m really upset and everyone has to take their responsibility. They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under stress,” added Conte. However the club last won a top-English title over half a century ago. “It is easy in this way. Antonio Conte & the zugzwang of Tottenham Hotspur (90min)

Spurs had inexplicably - well, perhaps not inexplicably, which is the crux of the problem - thrown away a two-goal lead away at the Premier League's worst team ...

Conte and Mourinho were not suited to the needs of Spurs, but their failures are not ones of ambition. Spurs are in crisis and trending downwards but it won't last that way forever, and doesn't even have to for much longer. The players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change. They're a few months away from the transfer window - step one must be about identifying a suitable head coach to lead and reunite the club. After four years of failure in the post-Mauricio Pochettino era, it's now undeniable that Spurs have failed in their attempts to replace him. They must recognise they were a top-four club in need of rebuilding to reach the next level and that's still the case. For me this is unacceptable because for me this is the first time in my career to see a situation like this. While Tottenham somehow sit fourth in the Premier League table, they are stuck in reverse and it is a false position. If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Conte's criticisms of the playing squad and ownership are valid. Now it's a mystery that he's even still in the job. Not to find excuse or not show spirit or show a sense of belonging or don't show a sense of responsibility because we are showing this.

Should Tottenham Hotspur sack Antonio Conte? (Sports Mole)

Following Antonio Conte's explosive press conference in which he criticised his players and Tottenham Hotspur, the Sports Mole team discuss whether.

Levy would look weak if he allowed the Conte outburst to pass without action. Not only is Conte emotionally moving himself away from a team that he has grown frustrated with, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has to show that he is strong enough to sack a manager of Conte's reputation. While there was plenty of truth with regards to what he was saying, there was also an agenda. Not a single soul at Tottenham would benefit from Conte staying until the end of the season. Of course, that is the crux of the issue which got Conte so irate, but those results on their own wouldn't be enough to warrant him being sacked. © Reuters

Many fans now think finishing in the top four would not be enough to make up for a disappointing and dispiriting campaign. They say his criticism of the players and the board was long overdue. Spurs were third favourites for the title last summer and they deserved to be after such a promising end to last season - three wins in a row including beating Arsenal 3-0. Just when Spurs fans thought they were heading for a relaxing two weeks off during the international break, it's all suddenly all doom and gloom again. Richarlison arrived for big money from Everton, Yves Bissouma was a key player at Brighton and Conte wanted Ivan Perisic, but despite all that you could argue the most successful signing from last summer has been back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Conte can point to injury problems as part of the reason for what's gone wrong this season. The big question is what the club hierarchy will make of his comments. Conte has a track record of speaking his mind to journalists when he was manager of Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Italy. He later admitted that those comments were meant to challenge the players but Saturday felt more personal. "Twenty years there is the owner and they never won something but why? And the players?
