He’s scored a lot of goals in his career and we knew he was going to be a threat so it’s disappointing to allow him to have that moment. We started the second-half really, really well and we created chances, but to concede from another mistake makes it very hard. "We made two mistakes and lost the game – that’s football.

Doncaster Rovers 0 Northampton 2: Worrying times for Rovers - a ... (Yorkshire Post)

THESE are very fraught times for Doncaster Rovers - a club who have lost their mojo.

Towards the Rovers net, substitute Tete Fengi had the chance to compound Rovers' angst on two occasions. It was his 20th goal of the campaign – the entire Rovers starting XI had mustered nine goals between them in 2022-23. That is not necessary against Rovers these days. Hurst almost got on the end of a searching low cross from Seaman before the break, with the dangerous Pinnock shooting low at Mitchell at the other end. As is their wont, Rovers tried to play out from the back and Mitchell’s pass was straight at the person who you did not want it to be at in On the resumption, Rovers flirted with a comeback, but it was all brief.

REPORT | Rovers 0 Northampton Town 2 (Doncaster Rovers)

Rovers endured a disappointing afternoon at the Eco-Power Stadium as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Sky Bet League Two high-flyers Northampton Town.

He burst down the left and got in behind Cobblers’ defender Harvey Lintott, however his low effort from a tight angle was pounced on by Burge once more. Fresh from his first goal for the club in mid-week, Lavery rose well above his man to head on target, but his effort was held well by Cobblers’ stopper Lee Burge. Substitute Hurst, on just a minute before for the injured James Brown, almost got on the end of a Charlie Seaman cross from the right-hand side, only to see the ball fly just wide of the far post.
