Splitting the points in Portland: Portland Timbers 0, LA Galaxy 0 (LAG Confidential)

The team found themselves with several early goal scoring opportunities, one of the better looks coming from the kid making his first MLS start, Preston Judd.

The Galaxy held strong, and were able to come away with the draw. It was enough to light an even brighter flame under the hosts, who began to really turn it up in the waning minutes of the match. Through the first 20 minutes of the second half, it was much of the same for the galaxy. Luckily for the G’s, Jonathan Klinsmann was in his bag, and denied Portland on what was by far their best scoring opportunity of the night to that point. The only negative was them not being able to find the back of the net. The team’s went to break even at the half, with Galaxy surely feeling like the three points were at their fingertips.

Match Recap & Highlights: Portland Timbers 0 - 0 LA Galaxy (Stumptown Footy)

Two more Timbers players went down with injury, as both Marvin Loria and David Bingham had to exit the game with what appeared to be hamstring injuries.

But in all in all, it was dull affair in the sun and cold at Providence Park. This time it was Memo Rodriguez for LA, as he clattered into Bravo to stop what looked to be a nice foray forward from the Timbers. 25’ Nathan went down in the box off a sliding challenge from Martin Caceres, which was initially called a clean challenge, and drew shouts for a penalty kick from Timbers players and fans alike. The closing minutes of the first half got chippy, with hard challenges and fouls flying both directions. 38’ Nathan Fogaca is shown the game’s first yellow card, presumably for colliding with Klinsmann as he leapt and flying at the endline. But the game quick regressed into the choppy affair it was for the first half. It was another discouraging half for Portland from an attacking perspective, as the home side couldn’t generate any kind of consistent offense, and registered just a single shot in the opening frame. The very end was marred by another unfortunate injury however, as Bingham went down clutching his hamstring after coming out to clear a ball off an attacker (who was ruled offside). The first half came to a close, with the sole highlights being Bingham’s fingertips. [Portland Timbers](https://www.stumptownfooty.com) drew with the [Los Angeles Galaxy](https://www.lagconfidential.com) 0-0 in a sunny and chilly afternoon at Providence Park. Giovanni Savarese opted for David Bingham in goal, and Homegrown ‘keeper Hunter Sulte was on the bench as the backup. With two squads that were missing as many players as Portland and LA were, it was not the most aesthetically pleasing match.

Timbers and LA Galaxy play to scoreless draw (The Washington Post)

Timbers goalkeeper David Bingham made four saves before he was hurt in stoppage time and Portland played to a 0-0 draw with the LA Galaxy on Saturday.

“Really proud of all the guys for the fight we had today. But at the end of the game, I think, created a few opportunities to score.” Goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann pounced on a shot from Portland’s Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 89th minute to preserve the draw. Judd has played primarily with the Galaxy II team for the past two seasons. Now it comes to scoring the first goal and building upon that first goal.” Portland was out of substitutes at that point so defender Justin Rasmussen donned a yellow jersey and gloves for the final moments after Bingham was helped off the field.

Pregame, Ivacic told The Oregonian/OregonLive: “I've been ready and healthy since game one. Everything else you're gonna hear is a lie.”.

In the 89th minute, a cross from Miller somehow got through to Niezgoda, whose shot was barely saved by the foot and rear end of Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann. But Fogaça lost control of the ball, ran into the Galaxy keeper, and was given a yellow card in the process. PT with a live stream available for free on the Apple TV app. In the 14th minute, Judd broke through the Timbers’ back line and fired a shot out of Bingham’s reach. Early on in the match, Bingham faced several tests and made a number of key saves for the Timbers (1-3-1, 4 points). Physicality remained a theme throughout the second half. As halftime began, Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig was given a yellow card for dissent. He said he was ready, and personally I didn’t feel he would be in a situation that he wouldn’t have gotten injured.” A team source told The Oregonian/OregonLive that Ivacic was not injured, and another source said the move was a “coaches’ decision.” Players pushed, jawed and expressed their frustration as both clubs entered the half scoreless. “Bingham showed he was the best player on the field, and he had a great match. And you have to make sure you do a lot of work during the week in order to make sure you can play.

LA Galaxy winless streak continues in Portland Timbers stalemate (AS English)

The five-time league champions tied 0-0 in their road game against the Timbers and they have yet to win during the 2023 MLS season.

This one, I think we - again, with some final actions and the way we controlled the game, this was three points worthy, again, if we could get that final action done with our overall performance.” The Galaxy will return to action on Saturday when they host the Seattle Sounders at Dignity Health Sports Park in search of their first win of the campaign. I also think we have a little bit of firepower that is not on the team, inside the team today, and some of those guys have been missing all the games. The Los Angeles Galaxy are struggling to find the back of the net this campaign because they have only scored two goals and conceded four in four games. The Galaxy have a record of three draws and one defeat this campaign. I would say, yeah, I was pleased with the possession.
