The real reason Frank Lampard was at Chelsea vs Liverpool ... (Football.London)

Chelsea news: The Blues are said to be 'seriously' considering appointing former club legend Frank Lampard for the rest of the season amid a Luis Enrique ...

[The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/chelsea-considering-frank-lampard-as-caretaker-until-end-of-season-nnks7z8sf) write that Lampard has emerged as a "serious" candidate to be in place until the end of the season. Attempting make the correct call here with so many spinning plates and factors at play is hard enough, doing it with added time pressure of the Champions League is even tougher. Perhaps more than anything it allows for more time to seek out the next permanent manager with due diligence. He has no experience of management though and could yet be replaced by the time Chelsea visit Santiago Bernabeu next week. Frank Lampard has emerged as a shock option for the vacant manager role at Chelsea after the former Blues player and coach was seen at Stamford Bridge. [No new manager has been appointed with a handful of options being considered by the co-sporting directors and ownership axis.](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/luis-enrique-chelsea-manager-london-26635322) [Bruno Saltor is the current occupier of the interim role after staying on Stamford Bridge once Potter had been sacked on Sunday night.](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/bruno-jurgen-klopp-chelsea-liverpool-26636066) He was in the dugout against the Reds on Tuesday and answered questions before and after the game.

Chelsea vs Liverpool analysis: Shift in shape lets Enzo and Joao ... (Chelsea FC)

Chelsea may have had to settle for a draw with Liverpool in the Premier League, but the statistical analysis shows promising signs from a subtle change to ...

In fact, three of Liverpool’s four yellow cards – for Fabinho, Konstantinos Tsimikas and Joel Matip – were issued for fouls on Joao Felix. Enzo’s 14 long passes was again comfortably the highest number of any outfield player, ahead of Koulibaly and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson with nine each, and our No5 had a decent success rate, finding a team-mate with nine of his attempts. With the two Blues veterans pushing forward and pressuring Liverpool in possession, that denied Jurgen Klopp’s team a route out of defence through the middle of the pitch, while giving our January signing room to dictate the game. That solid base provided by Enzo sitting deep also allowed Kovacic and Kante to roam further, hunting the ball and joining attacks. Joao’s five successful dribbles was also the joint highest, along with James. [Enzo Fernandez](/en/teams/profile/enzo-fernandez) in the build-up to [Reece James](/en/teams/profile/reece-james)’ sweet strike and then a handball when [Kai Havertz](/en/teams/profile/kai-havertz) bundled in his own rebound.

Chelsea v Liverpool like 'two drunken idiots trying to land punches' (Football365.com)

Chelsea v Liverpool was not a fun watch. Or it was. And we also have mails on the current lack of passion from Manchester United.

Mainly I just wish someone at F365 would go back and find the equivalent mails from that time period, when Mailbox contributors would talk about how disgusting it is for clubs to be spending obscene amounts of money on Shevchenko (30m), Drogba (25m), Rooney (30m), Robinho (40m), harkening back to the ‘good old days’ of the mid-90’s. It was like playing with a man down and eventually players didn’t want him in the side, talented as he was. But then Dan got the better of Anthony and others on the next couple of occasions and celebrated every small win with a fist pump or double fist pump with the crowd. Time to hand the armband to Casemiro? He had a first touch like Berbatov, was big and strong like Pogba, you simply could not get the ball off him. The next 3 games are not our toughest left but I think they could be the most important in deciding how we finish. Or are they a club whose future will be paying over the odds in a bid to return to the glory years which will land them in the poor house? All E10H needs to do to fix this utd right now is show them some highlights of the early season win against Liverpool. They only won 3 more games that season and had been knocked out of all the cups. I did this when I questioned the godfather of German football. [his ill-fated stint at United](https://www.football365.com/news/top-ten-premier-league-managers-doomed-to-fail-potter-moyes-emery), his biggest downfall in my eyes was sacking the entire United backroom staff and appointing his Everton mates. That’s the worst quality of football I can remember seeing in a Chelsea v Liverpool game.

'No longer a surprise' - National media make 'lucky' Liverpool claim ... (Liverpool Echo)

Chelsea vs Liverpool news as the national media give their reaction to the Premier League goalless draw at Stamford Bridge.

This used to be a collision of in-form heavyweights, a confrontation to quicken the pulse and the step en route to the ground. “This used to be a fixture full of significance at the top of the Premier League. [Jurgen Klopp](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/jurgen-klopp) made six changes to the team that lost to Manchester City three days earlier, with the likes of [Mohamed Salah](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/mohamed-salah), [Virgil van Dijk](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/virgil-van-dijk) and [Trent Alexander-Arnold](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/trent-alexander-arnold) dropping out of the team. “These were two teams, once great, now mid-table, struggling for belief and for a passing move of any length or note. “One particular period that scarred the first half will stalk the sleep of those who looked on aghast at good players showing bad control. [Reds ](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/liverpool-fc?c=)failed to find the back of the net, but still managed to earn a draw with the Londoners in their [Premier League](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/all-about/premier-league) clash. Ultimately these sloppy, stodgy away performances from Liverpool are no longer a surprise and, with the gap to fourth place now seven points, it is going to take something special for them to qualify for the Champions League.” Since their 7-0 dismantling of Manchester United a month ago, Liverpool have scored a solitary goal and, apart from a flurry from nowhere at the end of the first half, they never looked like adding to that here. He released fans from captivity into the night, hurrying for the comfort of home, the joys of late-night motorway roadworks north or a hostelry to blank out memories of these listless, scoreless, shapeless 90 minutes. “Change in the dug out for Chelsea and changes on the field for Liverpool. Liverpool made six changes as they sought to avoid a fourth successive defeat in Premier League and Champions League and at least Jurgen Klopp’s team managed that. Whether the Spaniard is still here by the time Chelsea visit Real Madrid next week remains to be seen, but at least his players listened to him.

‘At least the people watching at home have the option of switching channels, so spare a thought for those of us in the dugout’, the emotional German told Paddy Power News. Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out in support of the decision after last night’s stalemate at Stamford Bridge. ‘That’s why we must not allow ourselves to be dragged back to the dark days of ’95 by permitting any future screenings of Chelsea v Liverpool’. Games between Chelsea and Liverpool are to be banned under the Geneva Convention after yet another painful to watch 0-0 draw between the pair. ‘Auto-Tune was still a couple of years away and we were subjected to Andre’s vocals in their raw form’. There had been calls from human rights groups to ban the fixture which has now produced seven hours and 45 minutes without a goal.
