Fuel Prices Hit the Roof! Get Ready to Shell Out More!

January is here, and so are the latest fuel price adjustments from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). Effective from January 15 to February 14, 2025, the price for Super Petrol will rise by Ksh0.29 per litre, Diesel will go up by Ksh2 per litre, and if that wasn't enough, Kerosene will see a hike of Ksh3 per litre.

That's right, Nairobi residents will now shell out Ksh176.58 for a litre of Super Petrol, Ksh167.06 for Diesel, and Ksh151.39 for Kerosene. This announcement has already sent waves of concern across the city as many are anticipating the ripple effects on transportation costs, which may ultimately lead to an increase in the prices of essential goods and services. Interestingly, this spike at the pumps comes on the heels of a slight reprieve after months of supposed price stability. The last such increase was in October 2023, when the price of Diesel jumped by Ksh4.48 to Ksh205.47 in Nairobi, whereas Petrol saw a bigger leap, increasing by Ksh5.72. It seems like oil companies and EPRA were just holding their breath until January to unleash the latest round of price increases!
